Conversation on Radio AlHara – and Spotify
With Yumna Kassab, Guy Ganaratne, and Alexander Booth …
… three of my favorite authors working in English today who, by agreeing to feature alongside me and Dani Arbid of the great Barakunan on this podcast, all three of them – from Australia, Malmö (via London), and Berlin, respectively – truly reassured me that there was some point to what I’ve been doing with my life after all.
If I say so myself, it is a thrilling conversation spurred by EMISSARIES – about writing, language, identity, and what it means for human beings and words to exist in the world today. And it’s interspersed by extracts from the audiobook.
The podcast will air on the Bethlehem-based Radio AlHara on Monday April 17 at 4.30 Bethlehem (and Cairo) time – that is 2.30 pm GMT – after which it will be available on the Bara Digital Spotify channel whenever you feel like listening to it.
Here, in addition, are seven recent images from Cairo and a link to my The Dial magazine debut, a review of THE TURBAN AND THE HAT by Sonallah Ibrahim:
Finally, if you’re active on Substack, you might want to connect on Substack Notes:
Notes is the platform’s Twitter replacement. I think I will be leaving Twitter sooner or later, or at least giving up on it. And while I’m looking forward to taking an indefinite break from social media, if enough of my connections join Notes I will be using that instead.
